چکیده

The confrontation of problems that occur in the daily application of a resource schedule is a difficult and tedious process. Due mainly to unexpected events the realization of the planned timetable is impossible and must be changed. The Object-Oriented approach together with the Constraint logic programming paradigm was used to develop a system to support the day-to-day resource rescheduling of the German Lufthansa airlines. However the development of a generic system, being able to apply in a wide range of problem domains, was one of our main targets. The testing of legality of the produced solution, in order to comply with the complete set of the enterprise regulations, is one of the main required functionalities of such a system. For the analysis and design of the legality checking subsystem a combination of OMT and Booch methodology was used. Two CASE tools, Paradigm Plus from Protosoft and Rose from Rational Rose that respectively support the above methodologies were tested and utilised. In this paper a new approach to the resource rescheduling problem, as well as the experience gained from the use of the OMT and Booch methodology through the Paradigm Plus and Rose CASE tools are presented.

Multi-period and multi-resource operating room scheduling and rescheduling using a rolling horizon approach: a case study

In this paper, a multi-period and multi-resource operating room (OR) scheduling and rescheduling problem with elective and semi-elective (semi-urgent) patients is addressed. A scheduling-rescheduling framework based on the so-called rolling horizon approach is proposed to solve the problem. The core of the proposed framework is a novel proposed mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model with...

Back then, Rational only had 300 employees, and the UML was just a glimmer in the eyes of ...

Combining OMT with a Prototyping Approach1

Using the OMT software engineering methodology, a designer starts by identifying objects from the informal requirements specification. By identifying the relations between these objects, a global object model can be produced. Then, in an iterative process, this initial model is refined into an actual program. In this paper, we argue that the OMT methodology does not really help to analyze the r...
